TSIPYVNYK Dmytro (15. 04. 1927, Brooksby village, Saskatchewan province, Canada — 09. 03. 2003, Saskatoon city, Saskatchewan province) — Ukrainian psychiatrist, community figure in Canada. Doctor of Medicine. Order of Canada. Shevchenko Medal of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress. Graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon (1955, 1963). Maintained a private medical practice. At the same time, taught at the University of Saskatchewan. Was the director of the Saskatchewan Alcohol and Drug Abuse Rehabilitation Centre, the Canadian Foundation on Drug Addiction Care. Member of the Ukrainian Medical Association of North America. Belonged to the UOC of Canada. President of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (1986–92), the Ukrainian World Congress (1993–98), the Canadian Ethnocultural Council. One of the leaders of the Ukrainian Self-Reliance League. Was a member of the official Canadian delegation to establish contacts between Ukraine and Canada. With the assistance of Ts., Canada was one of the first to recognize the independence of Ukraine. Made a significant contribution to the celebration in Canada of the 1000th anniversary of the Christianization of Rus-Ukraine and the 100th anniversary of the settlement of Ukrainians in Canada.
